Thoughts on the triangle of art and relationship

ree

I have been thinking lately a lot about the triangle. (I know! My brain can be very random at times but bear with me.)

I’ve been thinking about the triangle and how it reflects something deeply spiritual and Divine. In many ways, it mirrors our relationship with God. There’s God’s love for us, our love for Him, and then our love for others, which flows out of both. It’s a sacred triangle—each point feeding the others in an ongoing exchange of love, understanding, and presence.

Interestingly, I’ve come to see this same triangle at work in the realm of art.

When I create art, it begins with me—my experiences, my soul, my questions, but once that art leaves my hands and enters the world, it takes on a life of its own. You, the viewer, then engage with it. In that moment, something happens: you learn a little about me, but maybe even more about yourself. You connect, not just to the piece, but to something beyond both of us—something unseen yet deeply real.

Sometimes, art is transcendent. It lifts us above the noise, into something eternal or ethereal. Other times, it's grounded—gritty, raw, painfully honest. In both, art becomes a mirror. It reflects not only who we are but also the world around us: the beautiful, the broken, and the hopeful.

It’s a place where truth can be pursued with both honesty and grace.

And when you buy a piece of art, you become part of that triangle too. You extend the conversation. You bring others into the dialogue simply by displaying the work, by living with it. The triangle keeps moving—God to us, us to others, and back again.

I love to think of life in circles, but the more I see, the more I recognise the power of the triangle. It reminds me that every connection matters. Every piece of art, every conversation, it all forms part of something larger.

In Him we live and move and have our being.

I hope to see you at my upcoming art exhibition.
